BTS x Hyundai

Hyundai Motor Company is a multinational automobile manufacturer with its headquarters in South Korea. BTS is a South Korean boy group known and loved internationally. Bring them together and you have yourself a recipe for success! And success is exactly what Hyundai expected (and eventually achieved) when they announced BTS to be the global brand ambassadors for their then flagship SUV, the Hyundai Palisade, in November 2018.

BTS announced as ambassadors for Hyundai Palisade

To celebrate the launch of its largest three-row SUV, Hyundai unveiled the Palisade at the Los Angeles Auto Show with a special video introduction featuring all the BTS members. BTS also shot multiple short videos for the Palisade which were released as a follow up to the SUV's launch.

A series of videos featuring different combinations of the group's members were released under the "Always Remarkable" campaign, with titles like "The Red Carpet", "Super Moon", "Wolf", and "Camping". These videos were initially posted on Hyundai's brand new Instagram account @hyundai.lifestyle, followed by Facebook and YouTube in the following days.

Coming Together - For the Earth:

Hyundai's collaboration with BTS turned into a campaign for a better environment starting in 2020. For Earth Day 2020, Hyundai released a video titled "For the Earth", encouraging the masses to think and work towards a sustainable future and protect the environment. The video features all the BTS members along with beautiful scenes from nature, ranging from snowy lands to the vast ocean and desert.

Continuing with their aim towards a greener future, Hyundai along with BTS sparked an online challenge for World Environment Day 2020. With a video featuring a song "inspired by the sound of water drops", Hyundai invited people to showcase their positive energy with the #PositiveEnergyChallenge on TikTok. Apart from spreading a great message worldwide, this challenge also brought some much needed positivity in the lives of many people amidst the global effects of COVID-19.

Hyundai released impactful videos for Earth Day and World Environment Day in 2021 as well. For Earth Day, they released a video featuring the Hyundai NEXO, a hydrogen powered Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) which boasts of having water as its only emission! Hyundai also released a Hydrogen Documentary for the World Environment Day, highlighting the benefits of hydrogen energy and the impact it can have towards achieving a cleaner, greener future. Such a great initiative!

The IONIQ Brand:

Keeping in line with the eco-friendly approach being adopted by Hyundai, the company announced the IONIQ brand, a range of sustainable electric vehicles. Hyundai announced the launch of the IONIQ brand in September 2020 with a music video featuring an original song by BTS titled "I'm On It". Just like the previous videos, this one also showed numerous natural sceneries in all their glory, encouraging the viewers to preserve them.

The BTS x Hyundai Impact:

Hyundai and BTS has been working together for close to 3 years now, and what a smooth ride it has been! From engagement to sales, BTS has made a positive impact on Hyundai while the company continues to find ways to make a positive impact on the environment. All the promotional and eco-friendly campaign content has garnered millions and millions of views and thousands of comments. BTS' endorsement of the Palisade SUV had such an impact that Hyundai was struggling to keep up with the orders!

Electric vehicles have seen a rise in demand as well in the past few years and Hyundai grabbing this opportunity to launch the IONIQ brand with BTS as its ambassadors was definitely a smart move.

All in all, a win for Hyundai, and a big win for the environment too!
